Switch!

Hello everyone!

I don't know if anyone still has this blog on their "follow" list but I just wanted to let anyone interested know that both Micayla & myself have started new DIY blogs. I can't speak for Micayla  but my blog, Dare to DIY, will have nail stuff in addition to DIY tutorials and posts. Micayla's blog, How'd You Make That, looks awesome too. Please follow if you're interested!

Thanks so much for sticking around, even if it was by accident - it means a lot!

Hey guys!

So here goes my first official nail design post! :)

So for this one I just did two coats of Sally Hanson's "Back to the Fuchsia" on each nail, and then one they dried, I used Sinful Color's black nail art polish to do the black tips on each nail.

The hardest part was the heart on each thumb. For those I just tried to trace out a heart as best as I could with the nail art polish, and then from there I dabbed on the inside and border of the heart to make it look more recognizable :)

Happy nail-arting! ;)

The Challenge.

Maybe it's my recently rediscovered appreciation of nail polish. Maybe it's my annoyance at the fact I have over 60 untrieds, and probably one of the smallest polish collections out of all the bloggers.
But I'm giving myself a challenge.
Gone are the days I have time to redo my mani every day. I have to pick carefully what I want, because it will stay. I never try new shades because I'm afraid I won't have the time to redo them if they look terrible. I'm making myself (with the amazing cuticles and assistance of Micayla) a visual encyclopedia of all my shades. Not only that, it will also have all the info on each one- how many coats, how easy it applies, how hard it is to remove. This is going to take a LONG time. But it's going to be awesome.
Hooray for new challenges! Could you do it?

Hi I'm Micayla (:

Hey guys :)

I was sitting at my desk in front of my computer which I love so dearly (I'm kinda a Apple/Mac fanatic..) staring at a new blog entry I had just finished writing for this blog.. I read it over and something hit me..

I have no clue what to say to these people..

Yes, I had words on the screen, but it was all kinda.. fake? weird? not me?

So I stopped trying to sound all cool, and I typed this... Not exactly your idea of a.. graceful introduction. But it's the best I can do since I'm kinda new to all of this.. nail blogging stuff.

I should probably formally introduce myself. (You all probably though this was Bria.. surprise!)

My name is Micayla. I'm one of Bria's friends :) She asked me to start posting on here with her because I've recently discovered my love for nail art. (I'm sure some of you can relate...)

So I'll be seeing you around I guess! I'll post everyone in a while when I have a new design that I want to share with you guys.

Well, I guess that's all, so I'll sign off now. But I'll talk with you guys real soon :)

Your fellow Polisholic,

Micayla (:

Wow.

Alright so I'll be honest, I'm still in shock about the fact I have 160 followers after being gone for over a year. Surely you must all be gone too...
Is there anyone still active?
If so, thank you. It's a nice feeling to know that there's a chance someone out there might be reading. I wish I could say the same for my normal (yet still new) tumblr. Absolutely no one is reading that haha.

Anyway, for any of you who are still active and are still reading this- thank you so much. Even if you were just too lazy to hit the unfollow button, it means a lot.

THANK YOU!

Splatter art!

I thought this would me fun to try. Unfortunately I thought I would go the lazy route and NOT use tape the first time. The cleanup on that was a nightmare and I still did a crappy job. Anyway, here's my mani from a few days ago and then today. As you can see, I butchered off my nails- I'm learning the guitar!

It's been way too long since I uploaded pictures... did I do that right? :/
And sorry I have no idea what colors I used for these ones!

Return?

Oh my god.
Several things are surprising me right now.
One, is the fact my blog is still here. I would have thought it was deleted or something, or all my followers were gone.
Not like I remember how many I've had- it's been almost two years, if I remember right.
Anyway, I'm in a bit of a nail polish phase again. Not the kind where I buy so many my drawers explode and my wallet begs for mercy, just utilizing the ones I do have in a fun way.
My friend and I are in it together, you see. I'm going to try and get her to post on here but who knows? Maybe it won't work, maybe she'll think I'm crazy.

Get ready to see some nails! And also, mind the cuticles... they're a nightmare.

I'm surprised this blog is still here!

Hey everyone :) It's been a long time since I've posted here!
Over 6 months, in fact :)
Anywho, I think I've decided to try and keep up with this blog again. I really enjoyed my time doing it and to be honest.. I've missed my nail polish! I won't have a bunch of new stuff for you at first (I'm still getting back into the swing of things) but I'd just like to thank my AMAZING followers for sticking with me through these past 6 months. Even though I'm betting a bunch of you just forgot about me and didn't unsubscribe.

Thank you, I'm looking forward to hearing from you all!

Inactivity Excuses

Hey guys :)
Si, I know I've been ridiculously unactive lately.
I'm really sorry.

It's dead week right now (the week before finals), and I'm crammed with a bunch of final projects/tests/ect.. so I really have no time to even do my nails, let alone blog.

So unfortunately, I'm just going to have to say I most likely won't be on until the 9th or so of June. I'll still check in of course, and try to post if I can but I won't be able to do any major posting for awhile. Don't worry though, I'll make sure my giveaway is completed.

See you guys in awhile!

Helloooo guys!
So, a few days ago I finally splurged (I know, $10! Ridiculous!) on Essie MAY (Matte About You)
Holy cheezits, this stuff is freaking amazing.
I'm like a matte-a-holic now.
MAY applies wonderfully- no streaks, no brush issues, no drag, no cloudiness, no problems. I've heard that after awhile it can leave white spots, but it hasn't happened yet!
So, I figured I'd show you guys some random polishes with MAY on top.

ChG Review: Hope Chest & Cosmic

Ok, so awhile ago the lovely Irene from ChG PR sent me these polishes.
The randomness made me think that she just grabbed up the first ones she could find.. which is fine with me! Any free polish is great polish.

DSCF1802

This is Hope Chest. Hope Chest is a light ivory sheer, with no hint of shimmer. Please forgive the dreadful application, me and sheers aren't exactly best buddies. However, I have to say that while I highly dislike sheers (I have awful staining and uneven VNLs), I think anyone who likes them or even doesn't mind this would love this polish. If it was just a tad more opaque, I think I would too. The application was great, with a few streaks here and there, but nothing that isn't expected from a sheer like this. I wanted to try to make it opaque, but I decided against it, as it's obviously meant to be a sheer. As usual, the ChG brush was fine, but nothing special. Overall, a great polish for those who love sheers. This swatch was 3 coats, no tc/bc.

DSCF1808

This is Cosmic. Cosmic is a black base with somewhat sparse holo glitter, with a few round or hex (I couldn't tell) glitters thown in. I'll admit, I had high expectations for this polish. Though it mostly lived up to them, I would have loved for the glitter in this polish to be a little denser. The application on this was lovely. Although it was chunky, the glitter did spread out fairly evenly, which I wasn't expecting. It's really quite sparkly, and though the sparseness of the glitter isn't a good thing for me, it honestly makes your nails look like a night sky, complete with stars and the occasional planet. I think this would be a cool polish for really casual day events, because without sun it looks a bit dull.

Here is a bonus blurry shot to show off the sparkle:
