ChG Review: Hope Chest & Cosmic

Ok, so awhile ago the lovely Irene from ChG PR sent me these polishes.
The randomness made me think that she just grabbed up the first ones she could find.. which is fine with me! Any free polish is great polish.

DSCF1802

This is Hope Chest. Hope Chest is a light ivory sheer, with no hint of shimmer. Please forgive the dreadful application, me and sheers aren't exactly best buddies. However, I have to say that while I highly dislike sheers (I have awful staining and uneven VNLs), I think anyone who likes them or even doesn't mind this would love this polish. If it was just a tad more opaque, I think I would too. The application was great, with a few streaks here and there, but nothing that isn't expected from a sheer like this. I wanted to try to make it opaque, but I decided against it, as it's obviously meant to be a sheer. As usual, the ChG brush was fine, but nothing special. Overall, a great polish for those who love sheers. This swatch was 3 coats, no tc/bc.

This is Cosmic. Cosmic is a black base with somewhat sparse holo glitter, with a few round or hex (I couldn't tell) glitters thown in. I'll admit, I had high expectations for this polish. Though it mostly lived up to them, I would have loved for the glitter in this polish to be a little denser. The application on this was lovely. Although it was chunky, the glitter did spread out fairly evenly, which I wasn't expecting. It's really quite sparkly, and though the sparseness of the glitter isn't a good thing for me, it honestly makes your nails look like a night sky, complete with stars and the occasional planet. I think this would be a cool polish for really casual day events, because without sun it looks a bit dull.

Here is a bonus blurry shot to show off the sparkle:

Water Marbling: Never Going to Happen Again.

Hey guys :)
SO, I tried water marbling for the first time this weekend.
The results.. were pretty gruesome, actually.
It was fun up until the cleanup.. and then I spent about four hours with blue fingers. Thank god I only did accent fingers...

While I was marbling, two drops of polish sunk to the bottom like little balls. I thought it was cool :)

The result was this:

I hate that tiny little bubble. Which ultimately ended up as this:

DSCF1681

I'm great at cleanup, huh? Base color was ChG For Audrey, with the marbles being done with three random blues I don't recall the name of. I want to say SH Blue It, SH Pixel Pretty, & ChG Shower Together, but I'm not sure.

NOTD: ChG Emerald Sparkles

Excuse my shoddy application, because this polish is b-e-a-utiful.
I wasn't very impressed when I first put it on.. sure, the formula was good (2 coats), and the application was good. But where was the legendary sparkle?

Then I found it :)
Helloooooooo Emerald City!

NOTD: ChG Recycle

ChG Recycle

This is my favorite grey I own, by far. It goes on very nicely, and is quite nice on its own and as a base for konad.

NOTD: ChG Shower Together

Hey guys!
I'm not sure what happened with this mani.. my lovely ST came out a streaky, ugly mess. I'm blaming it on myself, I used hand cream right before applying, which probably screwed it up.

It's such a pretty color though!

China Glaze- For Audrey

I love this polish!
This pic isn't very color accurate though. In real life, FA is less neon and more green... along the lines of Sinful Mint Apple. Application was good, this was two coats.

Emerald Who?

Hey guys :)
I experimented today. I really wanted to see what it would look like if I mixed ChG Emerald Sparkles with her fraternal twin, ChG Dorothy Who? So I did. I love the result!

DSCF1555

That's Emerald Sparkles on my index finger, Emerald Who? on my middle, and Dorothy Who? on my ring finger. It looks more like ES in my opinion, but it's still quite pretty :)

Once I get Rupy Pumps (hopefully soon) and a backup of DW, I'll franken those together too.

A Teal Comparison

nails

Someone commented that they liked to see comparisons, so I thought I'd do one. These colors looked very similar in the bottle, but quite different on the nail. Ignore the lobster claws- I had to edit the photo a bit so the polish color would be more accurate, making my fingers appear redder.

From Thumb-Pinkie: Urban Outfitters- Blue 1, ChG Custom Kicks, Icing Teal (mini), SH Fairy Teal, & Claire's Mood in Peaceful/Confident.

Hope you guys like it!

NOTD: ChG Dorothy Who?

DSCF0661

-insert frazzle complaints-

Seriously, I don't know what is happening with my cuticles right now.
And.. I chopped off my nails. Do you like the nubbins?

Anyway, I <3 DW. The application was very nice, though I got a little bit of drag on my second coat. I believe this swatch is only two coats, but I may have added a thin third one, I'm not sure. As you can see, DW is a great bright blue with dense blue and silver mircoglitter. It's very similar to OPI Absolutely Alice, except AA has gold glitter instead of silver, and is quite a bit denser. One thing I did not like about it, however, is that my usual one coat of SV didn't smooth it out for me- I insist on smooth nails, and for some reason DW didn't want to comply. Roughness forgotten though, it's a very nice polish :)

NOTD: ChG Happy-Go-Lucky

WHY CAN I NOT FIND A YELLOW FOR MY SKIN TONE?

That said, I love Happy-Go-Lucky. I love the color, I don't mind the formula.
But it looks awful on me.
For some reason, this applied horribly. But I'm almost positive it was my non-existent application skills, not the polish.

Application and skintone nastiness up ahead >>

DSCF0549

All together, a great polish. Adorable with some black & white polka dots, as I added on to this mani after I took this picture. This pic is no b/c, two coats Happy-Go-Lucky, and one coat SV.
